Like Newton’s apple, the idea for a blog struck Mary Ann in the head one evening while swinging on the front porch on a spring evening . She convened with her friend, and co-Sunday School teacher, Claire and thus Adventurously Expectant was born.
Both ladies were in the post-collegiate-infant-in-the-professional-world stage and looking for a chance to challenge their jaded expectations of where they should be in life.
The title, taken from Romans 8:15 of the Message translation of the Bible, it reminds them that their identity is secure in Christ and they can be excited about what is next while relying on God’s timing.
From the blog you can expect thoughts on faith, lovely things, and direction finding. What does that mean exactly? They’re not totally sure, that’s part of the adventure.
Let the games begin!
This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, father?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him!
