The New Year was welcomed in with the flu and a BIOS corruption in my laptop. So the search for the perfect replacement ensued. The purchase required three major decisions:
1. Mac or PC
Ahh, the ever present question in the computer world. I have always dreamed of owning a Mac. But when I was adding up the costs for not only the computer, but needing to buy Office for Macs, and reformatting many of the programs I had and use on a PC the decision made itself. I was sticking with a PC.
What I found next was the panicky feeling I get when walking down the shampoo isle. Volumizing, cleansing, moisturizing, curling, straightening, and the list goes on when all I really wanted is a shampoo that cleans my hair. The computer section is similar. Dell, HP, Samsung, Lenovo, Toshiba, and so on when all I really want was a laptop whose BIOS wasn’t corrupted and whose battery lasted longer than two minutes. To make a long story short, I’ve had bad experiences with Dell and HP. I researched a few other branded and I decided to try Lenovo.
3. What the heck kind of Lenovo?
I needed one that would run Adobe Creative Suite, decent screen size but still portable, lightweight, and nice to look at. This is what I ended up with:
A Lenovo IdeaPad U430, isn’t it cute.
MA and I both love coffee and breakfast in general. Last weekend we set out to try a local classic.
Bretton, took our egg sandwich orders (We both had ciabattas. I had ham and cheese and MA had sausage and cheese).
This cash register has seen a few days…It has lots of character, like Il Primo.
MA had a coffee of the day, Kenya Velvet Roast by Panache out of Seattle. I had a cinnamon roll latte (caramel, cinnamon, and vanilla syrups).
Here is Peter, demonstrating his expert barista-ing skills.
Stephanie made excellent sandwiches.
Il Primo is extra special because they sell all of their coffee, syrups, and chais in bulk.
Cosmetology: The Art of Hair Design
My favorite quality in a hairstylist is one who can give a better haircut than you could imagine for yourself.
Mary Ann and I have both had our hair cut by Kylee at Eric Fisher Salon.
My favorite thing about Kylee is that she comes up with fun hair styles that are low maintenance.
I love this specific cut for Mary Ann. When Kylee finished cutting and styling, MA looked like she got subtle highlights. It was really just the long blended layers.
Wow. I wish that I could cut hair! The pros make it look so easy!

Yes, Mary Ann and Claire have decided to take the thankfulness challenge. Listed above are the seven things we are thankful for this week. For the next 22 days, we will choose to be thankful for one thing. “Let the games begin! And may the odds be ever in your favor.”
